FOLK REDLANDS Festival Review 2007

FOLK REDLANDS FESTIVAL was a little quieter this year. With the exception of The Friday Nights Bush Dance. Well over 70 energetic people, encouraged by Alan MacMonagle and STONE THE CROWS BUSH BAND who played well over the finishing time of 9.30pm (Still playing to tireless dancers at 10.45pm). There were many on the spot requests to name the next Bush Dance date. (watch the Web site).

Saturday on the Garden Stage...

a new Duo TOPIA ( Julie Minto & Geoff Cawardine) next Singer/Songwriter/Musician PETA CATIORE. Followed by Redlands poets KATHLEEN McGREGOR and VIC BLAKE. After lunch STOCKADE ( Chris & Chuck Euston) and Geoff Cawardine. ( Stockade Blog in This Issue Folk Rag ) Following Stockade, the Delightful ANN INFANTE. Later in Ann's Bracket she was joined by Stockade, just wonderful songs & harmonies. . The afternoon on the Garden Stage concluded with a group who needed no Introduction... THE WAYFARERS. They can be heard every Wednesday at the Kookaburra Folk Club along with Ann, and many others.

Saturday on the Plaza Stage...

saw the Duo INDIGIE FEMME. Tash ..Navajo USA and Elena.. Samoan/Maori. Quote from their Blog " Their Lyrics speak of lifes passions, empowerment to women, and connection with mother earth" Go to www.myspace.com/indigiefemme read their story and listen to their music which is powerful and spiritual. We can only hope they come back next year. They were here touring, the main event for them, to play at THE DREAMING. MARK CRYLE & JEREMIAH gave a great performance, and like many needed no Introduction. Another well known group BLUE GRASS KITTENS (Let's not forget TOM !) still sounding great.

Sunday on the Plaza Stage...

a crowd gathered to see THE GOODWILLS. Laurel & Bob Wilson really can sing about anything, from Green Frogs to Cyber Infidelity. Everyone loves to see them. (Some Identify with the words of their songs). NOEL GARDNER & his BAND love performing at IndigiScapes..It really is his environment. His songs tell the story.... IAN DEARDEN ("Here come da' Judge !") What an Interesting life he lives! Folk Redlands hopes he will be back soon. (Maybe Aug.19th.) REDLANDS BLUE GRASS BOYS with Guest singer KARLEY KERR. This is a young lady to watch, heaps of talent, she is only going one way, that's up. Redlands Country Music are Country Cousins, always there to help out at Folk Redlands are, people like Pat Sailor, Robyn Boult, Alan McMonagle, Colin & Sandra Pavic. Hope you are getting over your major Surgery Sandra. GIBB TODD needed no introduction. A familiar face at both Festivals. Gibb sounds and looks as good as ever. Giving a classic rendering of "Shoal of Herring". Maybe Gibb will come back for a Sunday Event soon.

Sunday on the Garden stage...

began with the Haunting Harmonies of mother & daughter ECHOES of EDEN. Then foot tapping to the infectious sounds of INGONISH. The ladies stopped people in their tracks, how could they not? Lets bear in mind here, some people just came to buy plants at *Indigi Day Out. The Music was a bonus for them ..and all FREE. As were the Street Performers PERCH CREEK FAMILY JUG BAND who all are one Family, travelling up from Northern NSW. And RAGGED MORRIS What would a Music Festival be without Morris Dancers !! Music on the Garden stage continued with REBECCA WRIGHT who is a Musicians Musician. It is never a problem for Rebecca to just step in and play with a band. Its her life, it shows in all she does. Last but not least the very wacky GLENYS ANDERSON backed by the talents of Guitarist CHRIS JACK . Congratulations to Glenys who is to be Married In November Hey Lady watch those TEETH !! .

Thank-you to...

THE SOUND ENGINEERS. Patrick Burke, Chris & Chuck Euston & Geoff Cawardine. These guys worked tirelessly over the entire Festival. (Also performing). Without you it couldn't have happened. Good work. HOSTS Colin Nightingale & Vicki Macdonald. BBQ The Galloping Gourmets did well to serve so many people ..Great Food !!
A big THUMBS UP to KLEENHEAT GAS who gave FREE gas for bbq's
