Free Sound Workshop and AGM Congratulations to the New Committee. President Julie Minto: Vic-President Patrick Burke: Secretary Sue Hudson: Treasurer Lynn Small Chuck Euston's Sound Workshop was hailed by the approx 20 persons attending as a terriffic success. Chuck explained the setting up of a venue sound system in brilliantly clear detail with great hands on participation. From today's workshop we should now have lots more people able to assist Chuck & Patrick with sound set-up at our events. |

Sunday August 1st 2010 "Hot August Folk Concert" "Sunas" + "Swoon" + Ewan MacKenzie SUNAS
They play traditional acoustic Celtic (Irish, Scottish, British, European, Breton etc) music. Sunas have an ever-increasing number of their own songs and tunes, and also contemporary material changed to fit their own style. Instruments played by the band include guitars, fiddle, bouzouki, mandolin, flutes, whistles and bodhran, all four band members are also vocalists. Band members are Sarah Calderwood, Bridget Masters, Paul Brandon and Mannie McAllister. SWOON Duo A Contemporary Rockin' Folk duo from North Qld who write and perform a range of material from danceable high energy Rockin' Folk, to humorous ditties and their brand of blues based acoustic rock. Josh Notting plays an acoustic guitar with some effects and loops, sings backup vocals and plays the stomp box and foot tambourine. Angela Smith (lead vocals and percussion) lays over her strong beautiful voice and master shaker playing. They have been wowing audiences up and down the east coast with their captivating live show, original songwriting and technical prowess. They are currently on a songwriting binge they will have heaps of new songs for their anticipated 3rd performance at Folk Redlands. EWAN MACKENZIE with guest Guitarist OLIVER STEFFEN Ewan MacKenzie has been playing guitar for many years in all styles, and since devoting himself to the genre sometime ago, has come to be regarded as one of Australia's finest Gypsy Jazz guitarists. His playing is fluid and passionate and he writes melodic, evocative material in the style. His soloing is warm and articulate while still retaining that spontaneity and creativity that is inherent in jazz improvisation. For his visit to the Folk Redlands, Ewan intends to present a selection of songs from his 40 years as a guitarist/composer/singer. He'll also play some instrumental music in the style of the great gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt with the help of Oliver Steffen. |

Sunday July 18th 2010 "Stockade" Well known and loved around the SE QLD folk scene and beyond, STOCKADE will be launching their second CD "THERE BE TIME" at Folk Redlands 18th July. STOCKADE features the fabulous original songs of Chuck & Chrissy Euston, both accomplished musicians of many years. Their well crafted songs cover styles from blues and folk, to celtic and with even a hint of gypsy jazz. These songs span places, stories and emotions shared by a large cross section of audience and are delivered with both passion and humour. Especially popular from this new CD is the haunting "Quandamooka" - about our own beautiful Moreton Bay. |

Sunday May 16th Steve Tyson Steve Tyson is best known as the guitarist and mandolin player in Rough Red, one of Australia's better known folk-rock bands, who toured Europe four times performing at many of the major summer festivals. Rough Red released four albums over a decade long career. In recent years, he has also played in a blues/roots trio twentysevens, which in between releasing three records, toured the UK supporting rock legends Status Quo on their 31 date Winter tour in 2006. |

As most of the Folk Redlands crew were up in the tropical north enjoying the Wintrmoon Folk Festival in Mackay, Anne Infante and Ian Clarke hosted a totally unplugged acoustic blackboard afternoon of entertainment culminating in a wonderful extended set by April Maze as a finale.

Sunday April 4th "Echoes of Eden" Local a cappella musical duo Echoes of Eden,
Wendy Squire and Sarah Morrison. Their close harmonies lend a haunting purity to the traditional
and modern Celtic songs in their repertoire. Now they also perform with talented Queensland
guitarist, Michael Jeffrey, who joins them in three part harmonies and plays both six-string and
twelve-string guitar in their newly formed group, Tapestry. Some of their songs include: 'I am the
Voice', 'Wild Horses' and 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'. |

Sunday March 7th 2010 "The Redlands Bluegrass Boys" Alan McMonagle (vocals, guitar, fiddle), Neil Wills (mandolin, guitar and vocals), Fred Hudson (banjo and vocals), Bill Turner (guitar and vocals) and
Tom Stekinga (double bass and vocals). Together they performed a range of traditional bluegrass songs and instrumentals and demonstrating the tight vocal
harmonies and acoustic instrumentals solos epitomised by this style of music and really entertained alarge audience. These guys are always welcome ! |
